Mario Conserva, Secretary General of FACE, discusses on the duties and their economic impact on the European aluminum industry during an interview with the Askanews press agency.
“The EU duties on imports of unwrought aluminum are an obstacle for the survival of the whole European industry, in particular for the downstream companies that in Italy represents the 90% of the sector. It is necessary to abolish this duty which causes a market distortion, provoking an additional cost for the downstream aluminum sector that, according to a study by the LUISS University of Rome, amounts to about one billion euro per year.
