Aludium – a leading European manufacturer of flat rolled aluminium products – announced changes in its organisational structure effective from April 1st.
Markus Plakolm is promoted from Director of Aludium’s plant in Amorebieta (Spain) to Vice President of Manufacturing reporting directly to the CEO of Aludium – Arnaud de Weert. Plakolm replaces Mick Wallis, Executive Chairman who returns to the US. Having joined Aludium in 2018, Plakolm led development projects including changes to the cast houses in Amorebieta and Alicante. Plakol is an expert in improvement processes and has an extensive experience in the laminate business, having held a senior position in operations.
Alberto Ruiz succeeds Markus Plakolm as Director of the Amorebieta plant leaving his position as Director of the Alicante plant. Ruiz originally joined Alcoa in 2007 as Quality Director of the Alicante plant. During his tenure, he spearheaded innovative project converting the plant into a strategic reference for Aludium.
José Ignacio Juan Planelles is taking over from Ruiz to manage the Alicante plant. Planelles joined Alcoa in 2008 as a Process Engineer and was later promoted to Director of Operations of the Alicante plant.
Aludium belongs to Atlas Holdings Group and operates two plants in Spain (Amorebieta and Alicante) and one in France (Castelsarrasin). With a workforce of 950 employees, the company creates flat rolled aluminium products (including coils, sheets, and shates) using 1xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx, and 8xxx series alloys. Aludium is also a key supplier to leading aluminium distribution and service centres across Europe.
