newcleo and Danieli sign MoU to explore nuclear-powered green steel
Last month, Danieli and newcleo signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the integration of nuclear lead-cooled fast reactors (LFR) with steelmaking technology, to make a further step in combining the production of green steel with nuclear energy production.
The same could be applied to the aluminium industry! This advance, along with the European Commission’s pledge to accelerate the development and deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs) shows how integrating advanced nuclear technology into aluminium manufacturing could provide a stable, low-cost, and fossil-free energy supply – supporting the development of green aluminium and contributing to more sustainable and competitive industrial supply chains across Europe.
