FACE at ARABAL 2025: global trends and European perspectives
On 4-6 November 2025 FACE took part in ARABAL 2025 in Dubai, the leading event for the aluminium industry in the Middle East – hosted by EGA and organised by the Gulf Aluminium Council (GAC) in collaboration with the region’s major producers – representing the European downstream sector in a truly global context.
During the panel “The World of Aluminium”, moderated by the International Aluminium Institute, FACE Secretary General Mario Conserva shared an updated overview of the European aluminium market and the global dynamics reshaping the sector, with a strong focus on recycling, supply security and competitiveness. Aluminium continues to play a central role in the energy transition and modern industry, but Europe is increasingly exposed to structural imbalances, high energy costs and growing import dependency.
The discussions at ARABAL highlighted both the rapid development of low-carbon technologies and the need for pragmatic, forward-looking policies. For Europe, the challenge is clear: invest in innovation, recycling and energy self-sufficiency, while ensuring open and competitive access to low-carbon primary aluminium.
FACE is proud to have represented Europe in this important international dialogue and will continue to work with global partners to strengthen a resilient, sustainable and competitive aluminium value chain.
