Duties: Conserva (FACE), avoid tariff wars to protect the European aluminium sector

PRESS RELEASE

DUTIES: CONSERVA (FACE), AVOID TARIFF WARS TO PROTECT THE EUROPEAN ALUMINIUM SECTOR

“Aluminium is a global commodity. The aluminium industry plays a key role in the green economy. Any disruptive measures, barriers on the flows of raw materials or restrictions of supplies can only create damages and are particularly harmful to downstream value chains, essentially made of vulnerable SMEs. They are also inflationist, and they erode competitiveness on all sides. While the EU must reply to trade tensions and coercions, we hope that tariff wars will be avoided and that no decision will be taken that has the potential to further weaken the European aluminium sector and end user industries”. Mario Conserva, president of FACE (European Federation of Aluminium Consumers), stated this in a note.
