Aluminium flat rolled products producer Novelis is lobbying the European Union in an attempt to have import duties on aluminium lifted or reduced, Tadeu Nardocci, president of Novelis Europe, said
The import duties were cut to 3% on unalloyed primary aluminium from 6% in March 2007. The duty on alloyed material is still 6%.
“The EU semi-fabricating industry needs a level playing field on primary metal prices,” Malcolm McHale, president of the Federation of Aluminium Consumers in Europe (Face), told MB on the sidelines of the conference.
