The OECD published the “OECD Inventory of Export Restrictions on Industrial Raw Materials 2025”, that shows a five-fold increase in export restrictions on critical raw materials since the OECD began collecting data in 2009.
In view of global interdependency, export restrictions risk disrupting supply chains and understanding their impact is crucial to identifying less restrictive alternatives that would balance security and development goals.
Import tariffs and restrictions on raw materials are as damaging and distortive, if not much more, as export restrictions.
