PRESS RELEASE

FACE AT ARABAL 2025: GLOBAL TRENDS AND EUROPEAN LESSONS FROM A STRATEGIC METAL

It was a great honour for FACE to represent Europe at ARABAL 2025, the leading event for the aluminium industry in the Middle East, hosted by EGA and organised by the Gulf Aluminium Council (GAC) in collaboration with the region’s major producers. The conference took place in Dubai from 4 to 6 November.

In his intervention, FACE Secretary General Mario Conserva shared the Federation’s vision of aluminium as a pillar of the energy transition and a driver of sustainable industrial growth. Global demand for aluminium continues to rise, driven by the automotive, renewable energy, construction and advanced electronics sectors. However, structural imbalances persist: production remains concentrated in regions with cheaper, less sustainable energy, while in Europe, primary capacity continues to decline due to high and volatile energy costs.

During the event, Conserva met with numerous industry leaders and key stakeholders from across the world, engaging in valuable discussions on the global challenges and opportunities of an increasingly interconnected market. For Europe’s aluminium industry, the way forward is clear: invest in innovation, recycling and energy self-sufficiency — particularly through nuclear power. Furthermore, we must liberalise, not restrict, access to low-carbon primary aluminium supplies.

FACE thanks the Gulf Aluminium Council and its Secretary General Mahmood Daylami for their excellent organisation and for promoting such a constructive and forward-looking dialogue between regions.
