Elval – one of the world’s leading aluminium rolling manufacturers – has joined the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) as a Production and Transformation member.
Elval – also a FACE member – is the aluminium rolling division of ElvalHalcor S.A. and Greece’s only aluminium rolling manufacturer. The company has been active for over 40 years and has acquired a reputation as an innovative aluminium manufacturer thanks to its broad portfolio of quality products for the packaging, construction, shipbuilding, automotive, energy, industrial and HVAC markets.
“We are very excited to join ASI and further promote the principles of sustainability that drive us in all of our activities. We think of our membership as an excellent opportunity to align our efforts with the other members of ASI towards responsible production, environmental protection and material stewardship, throughout the aluminium value chain,” commented Lampros Varouchas, Elval’s Managing Director.
Thanks to its state-of-the-art equipment, the company operates cutting edge production facilities with a capacity of over 280,000 tonnes per year and exports 80 percent of its production to over 60 countries. Through the Elval Technology Centre, a department dedicated to R&D, Elval is able to introduce innovations in both manufacturing processes and high quality products.
ASI is a worldwide organisation dedicated to setting industrial standards and certifications in the aluminium industry. The association attempts to bring together various stakeholders in the aluminium industry in order to achieve such objectives as sustainable production, material chain-of-custody procedures, recycling, production standards, and improving understanding of social impacts related to aluminium production.
